Erin Horner currently serves as the Dental Coordinator for the Lackey Free Clinic in
Yorktown. She grew up in Williamsburg, and met her eventual husband Bruce in Newport
News in 2001. They were married in March of 2003, and shortly thereafter Bruce joined the
Army. On June 1, 2007, Bruce was killed in action by a sniper in Iraq. Erin will be speaking
on how she dealt with, and continues to deal with, her loss.

William T. Griffin, DDS has practiced dentistry on the Peninsula since 1983. He is a member
of the International College of Dentists, and is also a Fellow of the Virginia Dental
Association.He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, and
his DDS from the Medical College of Virginia. His greatest passions in life include athletics,
Christian apologetics, dental mission trips, and spending time with his family. He and his
wife Linda have two children, Katie and Will.

Dave Doughty, PhD currently serves as Dean of the College of Natural and Behavioral
Sciences at Christopher Newport University. He received his undergraduate degree
from Rutgers University in 1977, then earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of
Pennsylvania. His research interests include nuclear and particle physics detectors and
distributed robotics. A Peninsula resident since 1984, Dave and his wife Bethann have two
sons, Jonathan and David.

Ike Newingham has been active in several organizations on the Peninsula. He served as Executive
Director of Youth for Christ on the Peninsula for 25 years, and also worked as their National
Training Director. In 1983 he graduated from Hampton University, summa cum laude,
with an MA in Counseling. He was also a Training Director with Promise Keepers frm
1995 - 2000. For the past 18 years Ike has served as the Executive Director of the
Gathering of Men, having trained over 1,200 small group leaders. Originally from
Pittsburgh, Ike's hobbies have included flying, racquetball, whitewater rafting and reading.
He and his wife Deanna have been married for 40 years.

Mike Manicone founded Arisen Mortgage Corporation in 2000, and served as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He grew up in NJ, but was educated in Virginia, receiving his undergraduate degree from Averett College and a Masters in Business Administration at the College of William & Mary. It was during his time at William and Mary that he developed the business plan and raised the capital necessary to start Arisen Mortgage, now a part of CTX Mortgage. He is a past President of the Peninsula Mortgage Bankers Association. He and his wife Danielle have been married for 20 years and have three children. Mike will be speaking on difficult times that he has faced, and still faces, and how his faith gives him strength.

Brenda Pogge was recently elected as Virginia’s 96th District Representative to the House of Delegates.
She has been involved in local politics since 1993, having worked on campaigns for JoAnn
Davis and Melanie Rapp. Prior to her political endeavors, she worked for eight years with the 9th
District Court in Yorktown as a foster parent to teens in crisis. She and her husband Roger have been
blessed with fi ve children and three grandchildren.

Lamont Strothers is the founder of GESUS Ball, Growth through Education, Sports, Unity and
Spirit, which helps youth develop confi dence in their abilities through sports participation. Born in
Nansemond County, Virginia, he played basketball at Christopher Newport University from 1987-
1991, earning NCAA First Team All-American honors in 1991, as well as being named the Basketball
Times Player of the Year. Drafted in the second round of the 1991 NBA draft, he played two seasons
with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Dallas Mavericks, then went on to play professionally in the
Philippines, leading the team to two championships.

Steve Lentz is the Founding Partner in the law firm Lentz, Stepanovich and Bergethon, P.L.C. in Virginia Beach. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Business at Regent University and at Regent University School of Law He previously served as President of Middle East Television, representing the largest superstation in the Middle East. Mr. Lentz has also served as President, CEO and Chief Legal Officer for Fit TV, which he helped develop into a $250 million company acquired by Fox Sports in 1997 and Senior Vice President of Advertising Worldwide Sales for International Family Entertainment (The Family Channel), and was instrumental in the sale of the company to Rupert Murdock for $1.6 Billion. He and his wife Cathy have been married since 1972 and have four adult children and five beautiful granddaughters.

Bryant Bowden is a Vice-President, financial advisor and Branch Manager with Morgan Stanley in Newport News, Virginia. He, his wife Joanie, and their three children have resided in Hampton Roads for nearly 15 years. Within an international association of friends, they work with leaders in Virginia and abroad on behalf of the poor and children. Their mission is to develop and maintain a band of people modeling the principles of Jesus, based on loving God and loving others.

Rosemary Trible is originally from Little Rock Arkansas and now resides in Newport News, Virginia with her husband Paul who represented Virginia as a United States Congressman for six years from 1979 and for another six years as a United States Senator. They shared 15 years of political life and now they encourage excellence among young people through education. Paul is President of Christopher Newport University, and Rosemary plays an active role in the lives of the students including hosting two woman’s Bible Studies. She and her husband have 2 children.

Daryl Artis was an honor graduate from John F. Kennedy high school in Suffolk in 1980. He went on to join the Air Force, where he served four years before being honorably discharged. Shortly thereafter he began working construction. Since that time he has worked for numerous construction companies as a concrete finisher or concrete foreman. At present he is the concrete placement supervisor for McLean Contracting Company. Daryl will be speaking about how he became a Christian, and the difference Christ has made in his life.

Delegate Glenn Oder is a life-long resident of the City of Newport News and a graduate of Virginia Tech. He spent five years serving on the Newport News Planning Commission, and in 1998 he was elected President of the Peninsula Housing and Builder's Association. He currently works as the Director of Real Estate Services for Kaufman and Canoles Consulting. Glenn is also in his sixth year in the Virginia General Assembly, where he serves on the committees of Transportation, General Laws, and County, Cities, and Towns. He and his wife Mary are in their 26th year of marriage, and they have been blessed with three daughters.

Mr. Dois Rosser is a man of passion, vision and action. He currently serves as the chairman of the POMOCO Auto Group, and chair emeritus and founder of International Co-operating Ministries, an organization that has worked to build over 1900 churches in 34 countries throughout the world. In addition, he also serves on the board of Prison Fellowship Ministries. He lives in Hampton, Virginia with Shirley, his bride of 63 years. They have three daughters, eight grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Dr. Jim Shaw is a physician who currently serves as the Medical Director of the Lackey Free Clinic, which he and his wife founded in 1995. He also works at Eastern Virginia Medical school as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, followed by internship and residency programs at Yale, then he received four years of additional training in Pulmonary Disease and Immunopathology. Jim has co-authored 37 scientific articles on various medical topics. He and his wife Cooka have two children and one grandchild.

Dave Mericle is a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy and the National War College. He has served on five nuclear submarines, two of which he commanded | the USS Boise and the USS Henry M. Jackson. His shore assignments included staff duty at the U. S. Naval Academy, engineer for the submarine squadron staff located in La Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy, and responsibilities at Atlantic Submarine Force Headquarters, where he currently serves as a civilian. He and his wife Julie have three sons and five grandchildren. |
